Child Internet Safety Summit 2014
MovieStarPlanet is proud to be attending this year’s Child Internet Safety conference taking place on 3 July 2014 in Westminster, London.
Aside from digital businesses, over 300 online safety professionals will be in attendance, including senior advisors, government policy officials, educators and NGO representatives from a range of charities.
Already in its second year, the conference keynote speakers include Peter Davies, the Chief Executive Officer of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) and Maria Miller, the British Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.
Vernon Jones, the Head of Safety at MovieStarPlanet, comments “we were thrilled to be invited to exhibit at the conference. Since last year’s conference, online child safety regulation has made significant progress thanks to the involvement of policy makers and large companies. We look forward to taking the debate even further.”
He adds, “not only are we keen to be a part of the conversation with government representatives and legislators, but we are also highly interested in liaising with teachers and parents in order to discuss a holistic approach to educating all stakeholders regarding online safety. It is an issue that is extremely close to our hearts that there can never be enough debate about.”
The three core objectives of the CIS summit are:
- To protect children from online dangers by making them aware of their digital footprint, virtual predators and other cyber dangers
- To prevent children from being abused whilst online by assisting them to become more mindful about the sites/content they access every day.
- To pursue those responsible for producing online child abuse images and harmful/offensive content by educating parents, teachers and children about the multitude of ways in which they can use the web and still be safe online.
