MovieStarPlanet’s Head of Safety Goes Down Under so Safety Comes out on Top
Head of Safety Attends Global Digital Citizenship Conference in AUS and Meets With Key NGOs
MovieStarPlanet’s Head of Safety, Vernon Jones, recently attended the Global Digital Citizenship Conference: Encouraging Safe and Responsible Online Use in Melbourne.
Keeping users safe while online is of the highest priority to MovieStarPlanet. With the digital world changing so rapidly, conferences such as these provide a fantastic platform for MovieStarPlanet’s Head of Safety, Vernon Jones, to discuss the challenges and opportunities that arise in cyber safety.
The conference brought together government officials, academics, the non-profit sector and industry leaders to present and discuss the latest research, trends, issues and innovations with regard to digital citizenship and how we can work together to improve current practices.
The Australian market is a new addition for MovieStarPlanet, launching in January 2013 to great success. “At MovieStarPlanet, we recognize that each country has its own specific requirements and expectations when it comes to online safety,” said Jones.
The Digital Citizenship Conference was a great opportunity for me to liaise with industry leaders in online safety to make sure we are providing the best and safest possible platform for our users, both in Australia and worldwide.”
One of the best ways to do this, is through collaboration with experts in the field of digital citizenship. The conference provided me with a wonderful opportunity to cement our already productive working relationship with the Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI), CyberSmart and the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).”
MovieStarPlanet utilizes a combination of automated word filtering systems, user and parent engagement and live moderation throughout the game to be alerted to and monitor online behavior and content. MovieStarPlanet also pursue and cultivate strong working relationships with law enforcement and NGOs in each country they operate in to ensure they are taking the appropriate steps in keeping users safe while online.
While in Australia, Jones also met with Child Wise, Australia’s leading international child protection charity and ECPAT Australia, an agency working to ensure children around the world enjoy their fundamental rights to be free and secure both on and off line.
MovieStarPlanet can be played in 15 countries and 11 different languages. It’s a fun online environment where tweens can be creative and expressive through making movies, designing clothes, decorating rooms and artbooks and chatting with friends in a variety of safe online platforms.
